The Maison de la Chimie, founded to provide a dedicated space for scientific knowledge, has established itself as an iconic venue for prestigious events in Paris. More than just a private mansion, this historic site was conceived as a center of excellence, bringing together researchers, academics, and industry leaders to share discoveries and innovations.

Its architecture, a rare combination of an elegant 18th-century mansion and authentic Art deco interiors, gives it a unique identity. This harmonious setting, blending intellectual heritage and aesthetic refinement, fosters creativity, exchange, and stimulation.

With 20 rooms and salons, 2 amphitheaters, and a private garden spanning 900 m², Maison de la Chimie accommodates a wide range of events, including scientific meetings, professional congresses, seminars, keynotes, conventions, fashion shows, filming, cultural exhibitions, cocktail receptions, and gala dinners. State-of-the-art technical equipment and a dedicated professional team ensure customized support.

The Fondation Maison de la Chimie was created with the goal of establishing a space dedicated to the exchange and sharing of knowledge in a discipline central to scientific and technological advancement.

Initially conceived before World War I, this project gained significant momentum in 1926 during the centenary of Marcellin Berthelot. Officially inaugurated in 1934, Maison de la Chimie, located at 28 rue Saint-Dominique in Paris, benefits from the actions of a foundation recognized as serving the public interest, which ensures its maintenance and continues its mission.

Thanks to revenue generated from event activities (including corporate meetings, seminars, conferences, congresses, exhibitions, and receptions), the Foundation supports academic programs, awards scholarships, stimulates research, and promotes responsible chemistry that respects the environment and looks toward the future.

This commitment, embedded in the Foundation’s DNA, helps highlight chemistry as a science serving the common good, promoting respectful, sustainable, and inclusive innovation.

Maison de la Chimie continues its ambitious CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) commitment, anchored in the continuity of its history and the Foundation’s mission. Conscious of its environmental and societal impact, it places sustainable development at the heart of its strategy.

To reduce its environmental footprint, Maison de la Chimie relies on cleaner energy sources (district heating), precise temperature controls, LED lighting, and presence sensors. An investment plan targets insulation and modernization of its facilities in line with regulatory requirements. The venue also actively combats waste through rigorous selective sorting, improved meal management, recovery of surplus food, responsible waste management, collaboration with an ISO 20121-certified catering partner, and the adoption of microfiltered water, zero-plastic, and locally sourced products.

In parallel, Fondation Maison de la Chimie supports innovation within SMEs, assists women researchers returning after maternity leave, promotes chemistry education among young people, and recognizes significant contributions to responsible chemistry, notably through awards such as the “Grand Prix de la Fondation” and the “Prix Pierre Potier.”
